Halff is a major subconsultant on the 1,300-day Gateway Expressway design-build project in Pinellas County, which includes more than 12 miles of bridges, flyovers and roadways. This project is complex and includes several components and upgrades to the existing roadway system:
—SR 690 will be a new elevated four-lane expressway connection from U.S. 19 to west of I-275.
—SR 686A will be a new elevated four-lane elevated expressway from the Bayside Bridge to just west of I-275 that will merge with SR 690 via flyover structures.
—SR 686 (Roosevelt Boulevard) will be reconstructed from the Bayside Bridge to SR 688 (Ulmerton Road) as a two-lane road with new access to the St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport.
—CR 296 (118th Avenue) will be reconstructed from U.S. 19 to 31st Court North. I-275 will be reconstructed from south of Gandy Boulevard to north of 4th Street North.
All elevated roadways will be managed toll lanes. The Gateway Expressway project is the largest ever undertaken by FDOT District 7. When completed, this project will result in a significant positive impact to the region.
