This project consisted of ITS improvements along the interstates in Little Rock, Arkansas, and the surrounding areas.
Halff was responsible for the research, analysis and design of a Wrong Way Detection System (WWDS) along seven different corridors and 157 ramps (I-40, I-440, I-30, I-67, I-630, I-530 and I-430). This includes a majority of the ramps along I-40 — the entire stretch from Little Rock, Arkansas, to Memphis, Tennessee.
Halff researched with vendors for application standards and equipment limitations to implement standalone designs for all 157 ramps. Typical details were also established for the mounting, installation methods and layouts for the WWDS equipment to ensure proper installation and geometry. Halff also worked with ARDOT to develop special specifications regarding these WWDS devices and equipment.
This project was completed from NTP to Sign and Seal within four and a half months.
